Joyeux 50ème Anniversaire Asterix !
When was the first time you read an Asterix comic strip or saw an Asterix movie ? As for me, I can not remember but it sure has been a long time since. I do remember taking an instant liking to its intelligent hero Asterix and the food loving Obelix.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the creation of Asterix by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. Let us take a short trip into the world of this Gaulish hero who has captured the heart and fancy of millions of fans around the world since his creation.

Nordic Walking in Paris
As a kid, I remember having read in the school books that Mahatma Gandhi used to walk about 10 Kms a day. While that has never been my goal, but I do derive pleasure out of walking- all by myself or in company. Have you ever been intrigued by walkers or trekker with poles that look like ski poles? Chances are that you are looking at a practitioner of Nordic Walking.
Le Marché Parisien
The day is mundane. I did some grocery shopping at a near-by store. Today is also a day of le Marché- the make shift market (le marché volant or the Flying Market is more like it!). In the locality I live, it is held for three days in a week. There are such markets in all parts of the city though the days vary. It is almost invariably open from 7 in the morning to around 2 PM when the 'marketers' wind up their stuff.
Story of the Parisian Bistro
Paris is dotted with thousands of bistros spread across streets, corners, tourist hotsports and just about everywhere. It is no surprise because it was in Paris that the 'Bistro Culture' of the world originated.
There are several stories around the origin of the word 'Bistro' as also around the starting of the 'Bistro Culture'.
